Ok, so I've had my engine cases sand blasted. What is the take on clear coating them? Is it necessary? What do you use if you do?
Thanks

Doug,
I'm not sure if you really meant "sand" but you shouldn't blast the engine case with any sharp media. This should be done with a glass beads or other softer media. The reason being is that sharp media creates opening and pores in the metal allowing it to absorb oil and attract dirt. Glass beads pound the surface and mash any sharp edges down (all this is done on a microscopic level). This creates a nicer finish and at the same time prevents the aluminum from absorbing oil and collecting dirt as a sand blasted case would.
To answer your question though, there are various sealers for aluminum that would help. Look up Zoop Seal or something similar.
