CA77 - 1964 - Dream a Little Dream

Hi everyone,

Here's the beastie I'm going to be working on. It's nearly complete, just missing the impossible to find bits, like the throttle pipe, hinge, keeper, grips etc. and the petcock assembly, and the sidecovers and the ignition switch and the choke and the shift lever and the centerstand and the tail-light and lots of rubber bits.....

Mirrors are currently rolling around in the back of my van.

Interior of the fuel tank is NICE AND RUSTY - oh boy.

But the engine spins freely when the kickstarter is stepped on, so that's a plus.

Don'tcha just love the funny "mufflers" it's got welded on it?

Disassembly starts in earnest next week, this week I only got the headlight out, the tank and seat off, the front tire removed for tube replacement (tires are shot, but I need to wheel it around easier), and the speedometer out.

I'll be posting up some detail pics soon, they're in the camera.

This is going to be fun....

Thanks for looking,

Dave

hello..nice find. i've seen worst ie my girlfriends bike 1965 honda ca95. brought her back to showroom condition so nothing impossible. did the same to my 63 dream. its all about how much money you are willing to spend to get all the parts along with some blood and elbow grease.

Some more photos.

I've removed the tire to replace the deflated tube inside....on payday, I'll buy a new tube.

I've taken off the gas tank to clean it up and flush it out. The seat awaits recovering and foam.

The coil and attendant bits.

A closeup of the speedo. The pic lies a bit, the white is nowhere near that bright....

Once I receive my speedometer face decal, I'll reassemble and post the "new" speedo.

Dave, speedo looks good, is that the mileage on the bike? Whatever bits your missing will turn up here or on E-bay.Looks like ya might need a shift shaft. The bike looks like it still has good bones though, thanks for saving it................D

Yeah, but I'm not convinced it's an accurate mileage, know what I mean? Maybe rolled over once? I'll know better if and when I get the engine opened.

Yup, I got me (great English use there, huh?) a shift shaft, heel/toe shifter and a couple of other bits sitting on the workbench in the garage.

thanks for looking.
