Looking for upper end parts

Post by nrpolo » Fri Jul 06, 2012 8:48 am

I am still looking for some parts to get my 1967 CL77 running. Looks like I'm gonna need some pistons, pins, and an exhaust and intake valve. I was just wondering if anyone had some used parts as I am amazed how expensive the new ones seem to be. The pistons will need to be oversized as I am gonna need to rebore my cylinders due to rust and I'm sure I will need to buy new rings for the pistons and clips for the pins. I would sure appreciate any help. Thanks
Travis

rebore

Have you measured your cylinders to have an idea what oversize you are going to rebore to? Any way to lap the valves to make them work? Rust? Burned?

Thanks for the reply Conbs. I have measured the base of the cylinders and they are not bad. Problem is the rust half way up the cylinder. Im sure .50 or maybe even .25 over would clean them up. I probably should take them to a machinist to be sure. I have one exhaust valve that has some good sized pits due to rust but the other side passes the leak test with acetone. Took me over a month to get the cylinders off.
