Looking for a Taillight Bracket for 1966 CB77

Post by mysuperhawk » Mon Aug 01, 2011 11:56 am

I actually have a 1966 CP77 that I just got a week ago. Now that I've got it running, I want to take it out on the road but the guy I got it from lost the taillight bracket that holds the license plate and the tail light on the rear fender.

I've looked at images online and it looks like the CB77 bracket is slightly different from the CP77 bracket, but i think I can make it work. They may be the same, I'm not sure, this is my first 305. I do have the tail lamp assembly.

I am also looking for some new seat foam,
the tiny screws that hold the honda emblem on the tank covers
plastic knob to hold on one of the side covers
spring that triggers the rear brake light.
Rubber grommets that press against the inside of the side covers.

thanks in advance,
-Marty

Marty: Several of the items you mention can be found at either www.classichondarestoration.com or www.olypen.com. I was able to modify a rear brake spring that I found at Lowes.

Good Luck!

ordered

I ended up just ordering one on ebay today. I searched and searched for a bracket that would fit the CP77 tail light and found nothing. So I ordered a bracket that comes with a tail light.

The CP77 was predominantly a Canadian-market model and, for some years, retained the tallight that was originally fitted to the '61 models. Does yours have winkers?

Yes mine does have "Winkers" I've heard that it was primarily a canadian model because canada required turn signals. But I think some were sold elsewhere as well.

Thanks for letting me know the 1961 model shares the same bracket. I wish I had known that before I ordered a full taillight and bracket from ebay, I only paid $30 with shipping, so not much of a loss. Though I would like to keep it as original as possible.

CP77

My bike is a 1963 CP77 and from what I was told by the Previous Owner, it is a Japanese domestic bike that was brought back to the U. S. by a man who served in the US Navy in Japan. No winkers, fixed position driver foot pegs, slightly raised bars and speedo in KPH vs. MPH. I'm not aware of any other differences vs. the CB77.

A word of caution on the tail light mounts on eBay.
Most of the new ones I see are for the DREAM which mounts at a different angle. ..........lm
