Wanted 1965 CA77 Carb

Post by Mike546 » Tue Jul 26, 2016 6:53 pm

Hi I'm looking for a CA77 carb in working condition. The slide is stuck solid in a non running bike I just bought. I want to see if it fires before I go any deeper into it.
Thanks Mike

Mike,
There are quite a few on ebay. How about soaking that carb? I'm betting you can clean it up and get that slide out with a bit of effort.

I saw the ones on eBay but they seemed pricey for the condition. I tried soaking it in a bucket of carb cleaner and spraying it with wd40 but it won't budge. I did get one today fron a guy on Vintage Motorcycle Swap Meet on Facebook for $60. I still have to rebuild it to see if it's usable. I hope I can get it going. I just rebuilt a 68 CB450 over the winter but now I don't ride it much. I need a daily rider. Here is the CB450

That 450 is sharp, Mike. I'd love to have one in my stable. I regretfully passed on a K0 recently because it was located just too far away from me.

Hope the new carb works out. If you were in my neighborhood I would have liked to take a crack at cleaning up your old one.

I'm going to put some heat to it and see if that frees it up. If not I'll get your adress and send it to you. I like a challenge too. We aren't that far apart. The last two bikes I bought I had shipped on Uship. It's hard to buy them not seeing them in person. The Dream looked so good in the eBay pictures but it's real crusty. Hard to believe it's the same bike in the pictures but it is.

You could try boiling it in soapy water, which has worked for me before.

That is a very nice 450!
