Cam chain tensioner CB77

Post by SMBH » Wed Nov 05, 2014 11:18 am

I need a new roller for my 1964 CB77 cam chain tensioner it has a 35mm roller, has any one used one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360581237019? ... EBIDX%3AIT

and would this be more noisy than the rubber roller any other thoughts on it thanks.

Hello SMBH

Just noticed your post, I have run a similar setup in race bikes before ( made up using sprockets from a CB450/500T or a Kawasaki Z ) and did not notice any "extra" noise but the bikes were noisy anyway. A couple of people on this site use steel rollers without teeth again for racing. I think there are also Nylon/ plastic ones being used so there are a few ideas about that might be slightly less expensive.
I don't know if you are aware you can get the Cappellini parts in the UK through the UK importer B&C Saunders, so at least the postage would better if you decide to go that route.
