I tried to remove my non-functioning starter clutch from my CA77. I could see that one of the screws that holds the clutch to the flywheel was missing before I tried to remove it. I screwed the rear axle into the flywheel and put a screwdriver through the hole in the other end of the axle then gave it a few sharp raps with a hammer. Nothing moved. I got a bigger hammer and hit it a few more times, the two remaining screws holding the clutch to the fly wheel sheared off and the flywheel came off.
I was then able to get the starter clutch off. All three rollers were still there but the spring and cap for the roller next to the missing screw were not. The other two springs and caps are frozen in place and I cannot get them out. The lower parts of the two sheared off screws are firmly lodged in the flywheel. I do not want to try to get them out with an easy out because I’m afraid that the metal shavings would cling to the magnets and that I would not be able to get them all off before reassembly and I would still need to source three new screws.
All that said does anyone have a spare flywheel and starter clutch that they want to sell? The bike is registered as a ’64 but the tag on the wiring harness says 1965. The engine number is CAE77 1020976.
