Early C72 head needed...

Post by Paul Strassmaier » Sun Jan 20, 2013 6:49 pm

Well, after three months the machinist says he can't fix my early c72 Dream head. It's the early style with the small 10mm plugs. Does anyone have one they can part with? Thanks, Paul

Hello Paul

I am not familiar with the C72 heads but as well as the small plugs do they have inserted valve seats as opposed to the usual skull's that everything else seems to have ?

Early C72 head

Thanks G-Man

Is there something like a known cracking or seat loosening (is that a actual word ? )problem between the seats ? or do you think it was just a production / cost thing that made them change, not that the skull's are without problems but they may have been their best option for production at the time.

I did manage to get the 10mm plug hole welded up and retepped.

Onward with the rebuild!

Paul

Good news indeed!

Gordon - Don't really know why they went to iron 'skulls' may have been a perception of poor quality aluminium perhaps? I don't think that they ever did it on the fours or later twins.
