Hi Guys,
The spoke weights used for balancing wheels back in the 60's and 70's were clamped at the factory and the weights looked perfect. There are no marks, scores, or teeth marks and the weights are closed perfectly top to bottom. I need help identifying such a tool. I'm tired of using pliers, even those with the teeth removed don't close the weights like the factory did them. Does anyone have a photo of the tool used? I want to buy or have one made - tapered jaws and all.
I've seen the new ones sold on eBay and others, those are not wide enough to cover the weight top-to-bottom and since they have both a flat side and the jaws are parallel, will distort the weight at the bottom (large diameter) and not close the top. There is a tool with a taper and made to cover the entire weight's area - I'm convinced of it based on some factory originals I've seen. I've got some absolutely perfect original wheel weights clamped on 100% original 1972 wheels/tires to prove it. I would like to replace all of my re-tired wheel weights to look like those.
Thanks in advance,
Gordon
