CB72 front mudguard

Post by simon r » Wed Dec 02, 2009 12:12 pm

Hi all,I am currently restoring a 1966 CB72,I am looking for a front mudguard for it,I do have a front mudguard for it and it is in nice condition but I think it must be for an earlier model as the stays are not the correct length, has anyone got a correct one for a '66 model that they want to swap for the above or to sell, thanks in advance for the help

Hi Simon

Have you looked to see if the fork legs are the right way round? I think, although I don't have a CB72, that you can get the fork legs in backwards which might cause the problem.

Cheers

Simon, if you can post a pic of the fender, especially the bracket that bolts to the forks, I can tell you if it's for steel or aluminum forks.

We all seem to be having problems uploading images. Here's an experimental upload of Simon's front fender

OK. Simon, it worked but was too large a file in its original format. I had to compress it after opening with MS Office Picture Manager (included within MS Office 2003 -- I loathe Office 2007!). Let me know, by email, if you need further help. Compressing images, I mean!

It's a type-2, btw.

Fender bracket differences

Post by e3steve » Sun Dec 06, 2009 5:36 am

For those of us who need to compare (as I did!).

Type-1 on the left (steel lower fork legs), type-2 on the right (alloy lower fork legs).
