I got the crank yesterday afternoon and pulled off the generator side web. The big end cage looked a bit horrible and one or two rollers were damaged but the rod and big end pin looked fine.
 I didn't have a CL77 generator-side web so I used a CB77 part and blocked off the oil hole.  Having done that side I decided that I couldn't leave the other side of the crank untouched. The other big end had the same nasty-looking wear on the cage but the rollers looked fine. In went another fresh cage after a good clean up.  Everything went back nicely and trued up without any drama. It should do the job for the forseeable future.  G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72

Re: Cl77 Crank shaftHaven't been here much since the spam, I have removed several taps and broken bolts over the years with a plasma cutter, pretty much washes the the bolt out with damaging the threads. The tap you just cut through the center. Dick Dick Johnson

I have been in the fabrication industry all my life and have many years experience with these machines and would not attempt it on one of my cranks.
I suggest you go to you tube and look at methods of broken tap removal. Hope this helps, Al.
