Pistons no longer needed
Pistons no longer neededHi there,
Having had a go at honing the bores of my replacement CA77 engine and failing to completely remove the rust patch half way down the bore, I've decided to rebore it. The standard size Pistons I've removed are in very good nick and the bores hardly measure any wear but I'd kick myself if I slot this engine in and find it blowing smoke from one cylinder. So, I'm after a pair of first or second over size Pistons. The standard ones I removed have the thinner rings so I'm guessing it's a later engine, also, would fitting CB77 Pistons be viable and improve the performance?

Re: Wanted, a pair of oversize pistonsHi Geoff
I'll have a look to see what I have. The CB77 pistons won't improve the performance as the crown shape is different. Here are CB77 LC and HC compared with a Dream piston. G

Hi guys, I'm still looking for a pair of first or second over size CA77 Pistons, preferably the later thinner ring type. I'm reposting this just in case someone has missed the previous post getting swamped in the spam.
Also, I have a good condition, right hand engine case with all lugs intact for sale or swop. It is the one that the clutch cable enters at an angle near the chain entry. I need the type where the cable enters nearer the alternator and more at right angles. Hope all your winter projects are going well guys. 305 pistonsHi Geoff,
I was stuck for pistons, rip off prices or having to buy all separate bits which would have cost a fortune. After a lot of research I found the CB145 piston would fit. It is 61mm std bore 1mm over the 305cc 60mm bore, the gudgeon pin is 15mm and the pin to crown is the same. I have a pair fitted in my CL77 soon to have it running. You can purchase them new for about £10 to £15 each. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Piston-61mm ... 0983261864 Ted
Thanks for the info Ted, that will be really useful for the forum.Shame is, I got impatient and went ahead and bought some original ones. I got one from Holland and the other from the States. Buying them individually strangely was a lot cheaper than buying a pair. My rebuild is now nearly complete so I'll swop the engines over soon.
