Another Battery Option for Early CA77s

Post by Seadog » Thu Jan 15, 2015 7:25 pm

I've been researching batteries for my new resurrection project, a 1964 CA77. I have the older style narrow battery box/shelf. I'm aware of the NOS "correct" Wisco batteries on eBay, but I'm interested in a sealed/dry option - lithium or AGM.

Lithium doesn't seem to be a contender, due to the possible overcharging of the stock system. I don't plan on adding a regulator right now.

That leaves AGM. Some here seem to like the Motorbatt MB9U, which is too wide for the earlier models. I've seen other options in threads as well. But here's another Motorbatt that might fit the bill - the model MB5U - 2.36" wide should work. I think 90 CCA would also be fine.

What say you? Opinions, please. Better AGM options, if you have them. Thanks.
