Podtronics report

Post by Snakeoil » Wed Oct 15, 2014 3:15 pm

This spring I replaced my silicone rectifier with a Podtonics rectifier/regulator. The bike is a '67 CL77 that gets ridden hard twice a year in the Motogiro. A few years ago, when I pulled the battery at the end of the season, it was very low in electrolyte. I thought for sure the battery would not survive over the winter. Well, it is still going strong.

Today, I winterized the bike and when I pulled the battery it read 12.09 VDC. It last ran at the fall giro on the weekend of 9/27 and has sat in the shop since. Electrolyte is right were it was when I installed the battery in the spring.

Someone here had told me that putting a Podtronics in a CL77 would probably rob power from the charging system, rather than enhance it. I don't believe that to be the case after running with the Pod in 2 giros and occasional spins on the bike during the summer.

regards,
Rob

That is a good sign of a happy battery, Podtenics looks like the good choice. Did you also put the relay in the headlight??
