Lighting/Wiring questions.

Post by R100 » Mon Sep 29, 2014 12:38 pm

Please bear with me on this. My first CB77 and it came to me with a cobbled together jumble of wires that go in the headlight shell.

1. Looking at the wiring diagram I see the gr/wh wire from the headlight bulb socket should go to ground. Does it go to the gr/wh wire on the back of the speedo? The speedo sits in a rubber ring so how does it ground? (don't have the long spring shown inside the bucket on the microfiche).

2. Not sure where the neutral light goes. I see a place for it at 12 o'clock (back of the speedo) and what looks like remnants of a small lens on the front (can't tell what colour it was). If that is where it goes, what is the indicator light (blue?) on the outside of the headlight shell for?

Where you have the circle is where the high beam indicator bulb goes. The neutral light goes in the headlight bucket between the headlight and the speedo.

Blue lamp is neutral indicator.

The wire on the speedo is for grounding the case to the headlamp shell.

I don't see a high beam indicator bulb in the wiring diagram?

So neutral light is blue on the outside of the shell over to the right?

Have I got this correct?
Headlight shell, being mechanically fastened to the bike, is grounded, and can therefore provide a ground connection to the speedo body.
