where to begin??

Post by arch379r » Thu Jul 08, 2010 7:14 am

final got my cb77 looking good and now trying to get it running good. it has been sitting for 15+ years,
the first problem appears to be if i start the bike and let it idle and pull the right spark pull wire off it has no effect on how the engine runs?? the more it runs and i pull the wire off it starts to have a little effect. it really appears to me to not fully running on both cylinders. i will do a full tune up b but thought maybe someone might have an idea on what to look for?
also how to i get to that tune up recipe thing i don't see anything in the FAQ section?

oh yea,I did clean out the carb jets.

The tune up recipe can be found in the FAQ section under the heading " How do I tune my factory stock motor on my CB72/77 or CL72/77 for optimum performance?".
I see you cleaned out your carb- Did you set your timing correctly? That's the step that I overlooked and it is absolutely crucial.
Now that you've got it looking good how about sharing some pics?

Good luck!
'63 CA77 - Giving me all kinds of headaches.
'64 CA77 - Patiently waiting it's turn
'65 CB77 - A 'great winter project'

have you tried pulling the left plug to see what happens?

Had the same problem when I first brought my CB77 home a few months ago. Turns out the timing was way off. That, and some new plugs fixed the issue.

Welcome!

You can hold your hand behind the exhaust pipe, if cold air is coming out one side, that side it's not firing. I had similar problems the first time I started mine up. I used the FAQ and set the timing right. It has run like a champ ever since. If you havn't cleaned the carbs, it may be a good idea to do this first.

Update your profile and let us know what area of the world your from, and Post some pictures!!
