1968 CB250 headlight loose cables

Post by bech » Sun Jan 03, 2010 2:05 am

When the headlight was opened for the first time two cables came off loose. The green one is connected to the high beam lamp cable. The black & red is connected to the fork. Anybody knows were those 2 terminals should be attached?

Hi-beam mimic (indicator) lamp? Logical thought process takes me there.

Thanks, Steve.
But where should I attach it?
Those two are the only cables with this sort of connectors in the headlight case and all the other cables are well connected.
I don’t have a specific wiring diagram for this bike and I couldn’t find those cables in the diagrams of similar models.

Pleasure, mate. The ring terminals in your pic are (poorly fitted) after market. Is there not a red hi-beam mimic within your instrument cluster?

There it is.
The green cable and the (also green) cable of the red hi-beam are connected. That’s why I don’t know where to connect those terminals.
I figured out the creative wiring fitting when I found the cables labelled with tape with Japanese characters.

Oooo, a green mimic; most are red. Probably a cluster from a 450BB used from the parts bin for this 'new model' back then?

Insulate the two wires and don't lose any sleep, Bech. leave them there 'just in case'!

Happy New Year!

Hi,

A CB250 has another tacho / speedo unit. Probably these wires are for the illumination of one of the dials. Measure the voltage between them with light switched on and off.
