switch problems CL77switch problems CL77this bike has been sitting up for two years but ran fine when parked .Now there is no power going to the lights or the horn the bike has only a kick start (no electric start) CL77 1967 model.
I can jump the contacts on the rear of the switch and all lights and the horn work. anyone else have this problem?I have done a lot of work to the bike and the wiring could I have left off a ground somewhere?seems like I would not be able to jump the contacts and get fire unless the switch is bad. need some opinions. Thanks I am working on a similar problem with the 1966 CL77 I picked up last week. I have found the following information which may help you.
With the switch in the center position you should have contact between the BA post (red) and the IG post (black) for starting, you should also have contact between the HL post (green) and the TL post (white) to send power to the switch in the headlight. With the switch in the third position this would bring the taillight on when parking and you should have contact between the BA post (red) and the TL post (white) The switch in the headlight works as follows: The switch is off in the center position Turning the switch to the left turns on the speedometer light and the tail lamp. Turning the switch to the right turns on all lights and increases generator output.
Is this any good for you?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-30 ... 0283115795 The key looks aftermarket to me but, as I've never seen a CL in the flesh, I can't really tell. Good luck! Steve I order that switch from thailand and it came today .it is exactley the same as the one I took off and it acts exactly the same way????
I have rechecked every wire on the bike and have found nothing wrong but I can still jump the red wire and the black wire on the back of the ignition switch and everything works lights, high and low and taillight and the horn and it is getting juice to the coils and brake light but the switch won't connect them. I just know it is not 2 bad switches. any more ideas? Rebel switchall wires are to the right color on the switch .
Here's the old switch and the new one hooked up beside it and the contacts on each one were installed at the factorywith the colored markings there are 5 contacts on each one and when the red wire and the black wire are connected together everything works but only from the back side of the switch.also there are no wires inside the headlight getting fire from the switch?
