lighting

I worked on the bike today and figured out the problem. The tailight I put on was a aftermarket one and for some reason it had a 6v bulb in it. I put in a 12v bulb and now the headlight dims very little. Probably a normal amount if they are known for that.

Ha! Ain't it just the simple things that thow you a curve-ball? Of course, a 6V lamp will impede the circuit with half the expected resistance across the supply. I'm surprised the 6V tail lamp's filaments survived. Had the headlight not been sapping the battery's available energy, and had the battery been new / fully charged, then I suspect the tail light would've popped immediately. Good diagnosis, and a lesson to us all. Nice one, Aron! Every day's a schoolday.....

Well that is what prompted me to check out the tailight because all of the sudden it wasn't working. It was reeeaaaly bright with the 6v bulb.
