hideous means very ugly, kinky, etc, thanks Steve, you're welcome. Now I know why there are not much left. But once mounted, on flat handlebars, it all makes sense. Imagine how these look like on a CB92.
Good point; they would possibly look OK on a flat handlebar. The angle is obviously all back to the respective markets' road legislation and the requirement to have the lenses the predetermined distance apart/from the centreline of the bike.

Yes, on flat handlebars it all makes sense in a kind a way, but I think it's difficult for any person outside the Netherlands and Germany to accept this style and see the beauty of it. I think you have to be in the riders seat to see what I mean.

I also have a question, and maybe the answer is already on this forum but I failed to find it.
When building winkers on a non-winker CB, and maybe a non European CB72 / 77 there has to be some wiring done, or is the winker wiring pre-installed in all wring harnesses ?

I never came across a US wiring harness, so I can't give the answer myself.

My CB has an OEM Honda harness but was, apparently, supplied to the previous owner as a spare part; it contains the correct wiring (á la Canadian-market CP/German-market CB) with the black wire from the ignition switch to the flasher relay location, the grey from the relay to the headlamp bucket and orange & light blue wires -- with double 3.5mm female connectors -- from the bucket to the taillight connections' location just before entering the rear fender. The harness has no year tag.

Oddly enough, the PO fitted the winkers but ran his own wiring (outside the harness and taped to it), so perhaps he didn't have the savvy to look into the (Euro)CA wiring diagram! My first little project was to refit the winkers as close to the method that the factory would have used, using the proper incorporated wiring. The fronts were previously clamped onto the handlebar using unpainted mild steel brackets......oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! It took me just an hour to make it all nice and rip out the taped-on wires! So, European and Canadian harnesses have the appropriate wiring, the us versions not.
By the way, what is a PO, where does it stand for ? I wanted to ask this question a long time, but always forgot to ask.

Hi,

This is what I mean, this picture is from an old motorcycle magazine.
After the winter I will put winkers on my bike and picture them, the bike is repainted now.

You're welcome, J-man. Some market's CB/CP models had the wiring included, but not all. Many European parts-bin harnesses too.

I did some more research on winker style.
Seems that from 1962, the winkers where already round,
not ad stated earlier from '64 with the new front fork.

Only the 1962 models had the square winkers.

The round types pictured on this thread are also used on the CB450 BB.
In germany these type of winkers are also usd on a CB400F and other fours.
In the netherlands the fours had different style winkers, accept the CB750 from '69.
I also have pictures from a "sandcast" 1969 CB750 with these round type winkers.
