This is so cheap and works so good! Much smaller and much more efficient! If you have a rider bike and don't care about using all original style parts this is the way to go and you don't need to go all crazy with a heat sink. I just bolted mine to one arm of the orginal bracket and used heat sink grease and it has been working great, don't get very hot and I ride the hell out of most of my classic Hondas! Here's my take on a replacement rectifier for my CA78. Works well and looks close to orginal.

Digikey 641-1383-ND - 1,000V 50A bridge rectifier

Original wiring harness and mounting hardware. $10 all in.

After reading this link I installed a new rectifier but was still cooking the AGM battery. I now have the Kohler lawn mower voltage regulater and will mount that this weekend. I'll let you know how that goes.

Has anyone that has done this conversion with success supplied any of the voltage readings they are getting at the rectifier?I have Bill silvers book and with the original rect. there should be about 6-7 volts on the AC terminals while at idle.My original has this but only about 2 -3 volts showing on the red DC terminal.thanks

update: Replaced the rectifier and getting proper readings now!

I'm trying to find a replacement rectifier for my CL77 and wondering if anyone has a link to the one that works the best for this bike

So I went to Radio Shack and bought a bridge rectifier. Here is the link to the one I bought https://www.radioshack.com/products/50v ... 5717581317. Wired it up using the harness from an old rectifier I had and plugged it in.

Volts went up as I revved the engine.

The question I have is the original harness has three wires going to rectifier. The new one has 4 plugs. What do I do wth the odd man out?

+ terminal= battery
- terminal= ground
one wavy terminal = yellow
other wavy terminal= brown

That is IF your harness is stock...better to make sure
