LED bulbsToday, while running errands I stopped at all the aftermarket autoparts stores (Pep Boys, NAPA, etc) and only Pep Boys had LED 1157 replacement bulbs. Once had radial and rear facing LEDs in Red 28 total, with only 4 of them facing to the rear. The rest were arranged 6 on a side since the shape of the bulb was a retangular box. They also had plain red, white, blue and amble 1157 LED bulbs with just rear facing LEDs. I think there was maybe 10 LEDs.
28 LED bulb was $20 and the plain bulbs were $8 for all but white, which were $13. I think I'm going to order a superbrite. Also going to check if they have a 6V version for my S90. regards, Rob Isn't the headlight 7" (or am I mistaken)? Why not try an old VW H4 replacement like this?
http://www.busdepot.com/details.jsp?par ... 0301600118 I've also seen some in diamond pattern and others as low as $7. This is what I was planning on using... But I am still unsure of the fit. Man I was hoping for 7" by what Spargett had said.
Just as an update, I was able to get the new headlight to fit. I may have been due to the fact that I was using old clips to hold them into the headlight ring when I last tried. Since then I've come across a new set and when I tried, I was able to pin everything rather snuggly in place. There's still a slight "gap" (see last photo near ring edge) which makes me wonder a bit about a true fit in heavy rain. It was a tight fit getting the bulb in with all the wires and cables. I cut off four large metal brackets that have no use in this application.
The new headlight is about twice the output of the stock bulb, which means I can actually see at night and just as important, other's can see me. As you'll see, the the bulb is very flat as opposed to the rounded stock bulb. I much prefer the look of the old bulb, but I'm willing to look the other way in the name of functionality. On a possibly unrelated note, my speedo has stopped working over 60mph the day after installing the new bulb. I double checked the cable and instrument housing for proper lubrication, which it had plenty of. I'm wondering of the larger bulb is putting pressure against the speedo cable, causing it to behave erratically (either bouncing between 60-80mph, or not going higher than 60mph).
