Cl77

Post by Rickxlcr » Mon Aug 22, 2016 1:50 pm

Hello, I have a 67 cl77 near the battery there is an orange wire with a ring terminal on it, the wiring diagram I have shows two wires to the positive terminal but when I connected the orange wire it started to melt, there are no other wires with ring termimals nearby, what is the orange wire and how many wires should connect to the positive terminal ? Many Thanks, Rick Canavan

Welcome Rick! Here is a link to a post with a diagram. Is it possible your orange wire is actually a faded red one? If so, maybe it is the positive wire going to the rectifier. It appears two wires go to the CH terminal of the ignition switch. From what I gather here that terminal has no function within the switch, but rather it's just a junction for the two wires to connect. I don't see an orange near the battery on the diagram. Also the wire may not be original and added by a previous owner for another purpose.
