Wiring for the switch should be within the handlebar and connected to the main harness in the headlight bucket. Has that been cut out?
I may try and pick up power from the coil as suggested above to see if that will work.
CA77 horn wiring connections - Help!
It will be a BLACK wire on the same lead as the BLACK Coil Wire. ..............lm
Bob, my harness is out, so I took this photo to show you the horn leads. The other connections you see are those within your headlight bucket. I think it would be difficult to break those horn leads off. Look inside the frame for them. They might have been tucked inside. If that "pigtail" has been cut, I would not leave it that way.
CA77 horn wiring connections - Help! Thanks to all for your great responses and thanks to Seadog for the pic. I definitely don't have that pigtail for the horn. I searched all over in the frame and under the tank and behind the horn mount but someone has removed it and then taped up the wire harness with electrical tape. Who knows why people do what they do but I've got to find a way to have a working horn in order to pass state inspection for licensing.
If I take the black wire that comes down from the horn button and attach that to the horn and then run a new wire from the other side of the horn to the coil that should work shouldn't it?
