If you go back and read this thread - http://www.honda305.com/forums/ca77-lam ... t5820.html - and take a look at the photo posted by joeweir1 back in 2006 it appears that he just high temp RTV'd the bulb in place without any additional holder. The photo of the bulbs I've got coming from Amazon show that this should be doable. They've got a good flange that will provide a fit to the back of the reflector after taking the old socket out and enlarging the hole somewhat.
I'm going to try it that way and see what success I get.

I just wanted to check back in and let those that are interested know that this absolutely works. I finally got around to modifying the headlight to work with the #48220 halogen bulb I bought from Amazon and had great success. I've now got high beam and low beam - works great!
