Ditto to what Wilf said. We all make mistakes. That's how we learn things. I just spent a bunch of time lining up a motor on a milling machine using shims only to find that the part I was aligning it to has slotted bolt holes and I never needed any shims. D'oh!!!.
New (to me) milling machine so again learn by your mistakes.
I've installed silicone rectifiers on two bikes, my CL77 and S90. Both work great. You will also get more oomph out of your charging system because less heat is created by the SCR.
Glad you figured out your problem. Let us know how the system works once you have your new rectifier in place.
And as a side note, your thread provided the opportunity for me to learn more about these systems so you were not the only one with mistaken assumptions here. I know I appreciate what I learned from Wilf and the others.

Over voltage
Well I went to radio shack and bought a bridge rectifier and so far my battery seems to be hold a charge. This whole time it was a faulty new part. I had no idea that I could of bought a new rectifier from radio shack instead of the website I bought from if it wasn't for these forums. Thanks everyone for helping me through and for all the great information. It's been a great learning process and I'm estactic that there's a group online that's knowledgable to be able to help me through my problems. Thanks again and happy holidays!
