Battery-- Which terminal to ground? 67 ca77

Post by Tracepete » Mon Jul 11, 2011 2:53 pm

Someone else last had the battery in so I did not see it come off the bike. I've searched the forum but couldn't fine a clear answer, or at least not one I could comprehend. I know the silver woven cable on the left of my battery box is the ground, but I do not know if it is to be connected to the positive or negative terminal.

Thanks in advance for answering my rather noobie question.

These bikes ground the negative terminal.

Thanks. Any chance you have a picture to post? The battery I have for the bike if I have the battery terminals facing away from the bike the positive terminal is closest to the ground wire. Someone else worked on the wiring a year ago and I'm wondering if they switched something, or if I simply have to turn the battery around and have the terminals on the side facing the frame.

Ordered a new battery with the terminal on the proper side. I would bet that the last guy hooked it up wrong using the battery he had-- he said the electric starter made a funny noise and wouldnt work... reversing the leads would explain it!
