E.B.C. or Yuasa battery?

Post by Loudo » Tue Dec 09, 2008 1:50 pm

I need a battery for my '65 CB77 which requires a 12N9-3A or its replacement. I note that I can get an E.B.C. brand battery for $25 on eBay or a Yuasa battery somewhat locally for $42. Does anyone have an opinion about whether these batteries are equivalent or are the few extra $ for the Yuasa a good value?

I have a generic battery in my CB and it's worked fine all summer. That said, Yuasa batteries were the original fitment, way back when; if I could get a Yuasa locally, that's definitely the turning I'd take. Ya pays your money & ya takes your choice....

Incidentally, could you post contact details for your Yuasa dealer please?

Yuasa battery

Post by Loudo » Wed Dec 10, 2008 11:15 am

I ended up buying a Yuasa battery on eBay yesterday for $45 delivered. The local parts house that listed them in their catalog was Retro Bikes in Port Angeles, WA which just a short ferry ride away from me. I went with the Yuasa because upon closer inspection of the two batteries I noted that the Yuasa's terminals project left and right from the battery case while the other battery's terminals are on top. I'm not sure how the cables connect, but I'm loathe to change stuff away from stock since I'm a greenhorn at this.

Incidentally, can someone explain how to insert photos in posts in this forum? I have photos available from my Flickr account but inserting them using that address takes one to my whole Flickr thing which seems unnecessary. I note that others have posted images which appear to be .jpegs not tied to an obvious remote server. The FAQ here tells me to "use the BBCode tag" whatever that means. A little help?

You can either use the [img] tag to post something that's already hosted online somewhere (flickr), by highlighting the url and clicking the "Img" button that's located below the subject line. Or you can upload directly to the site when posting. Look for the "Filename" and "File Comment" fields below the message body when posting.

Here's an image of what the posting page looks like.
