how does the speedo go to ground?

67 ca77, getting ready to paint the headlite bucket, need to know where the speedo pics up ground so the lites in the speedo work, since only one wire goes to each.

It is grounded by contact with the headlight case and, more reliably, through the screws that hold it in the case. If you are having a problem there's no reason you couldn't run a ground wire into the case along side the wire harness.

On the CB models there is a green earth wire from the back of the speedo case onto a tag on the headlight rim which itself is grounded. You will also pick up decent grounding through the speedo cable itself once you have it fitted.
