Replacement CL77 seat covers

Post by Hotshoe » Sun Dec 19, 2010 12:12 pm

Next project; refoam and recover my CL77 seat.
I requested material samples from 3 ebay seat cover suppliers and received two.
Of those, the one from Northwest Classic Seat covers (comboguy $49) looks like it matches the original texture the closest - the "pebble" texture seems to be finer than original but it's acceptable.
After digging through the Forum using the mostly worthless search function I have two questions;
- Does anyone have experience with NW Classic and their seat covers and can make a recommendation good or bad?
- Can any of you recommend a replacement CL77 seat cover you've used and liked?
Thanks, Chuck

Chuck; I have bought from ComboGuy and also GumTwo. both were acceptable to me and worked fine. I think the straps from GumTwo are a little more reinforced. neither firms texture is very close to original but makes for an attractive seat.
Good luck
Randy

seat covers

I've purchased 2 covers from gumtwo (david ziehl). The first had the honda stencil very crooked. Had to have them replace it. Recently bought another, the stencil is crooked, and has a rumple on the beading. I won't be dealing with them again.

I appreciate the info Mike and Randy, I'll probably go with the NW cover.
I'm not thrilled with the fabric texture but it's close enough given the general finish of my rider.
I am definitely looking forward to getting some new foam on that seat, any hot tips you guys can share on refoaming?
From reading about it, built up rebond carpet pad for the main body of the seat shaped with an electric carving knife and something like a 1/2" of closed cell neoprene on top for a finish layer sounds like a good way to go.
Thanks, CW

CW,
Is your bike a late model with the silver piping around the top of the seat? I am looking for a source for a cover with the silver piping for my bike and haven't found them offered anywhere.
Thanks,
Rich

I can't remember which seller on Ebay it was, but I bought a CL77 cover, and requested silver piping. He did it for an additional $10. E-mail the sellers, and ask if they can add the silver piping.
