Continuation about CB seats -- sharing experiences

Post by e3steve » Mon Nov 24, 2008 8:20 am

I bought one of these from TC (vintage_001) and I'm impressed at the 'bang-per-buck' (value), although I did only pay $50 + shipping. It seems TC is also jumping on the 'demand bandwagon'. I'm also what he might term as a good customer, as I'd also bought his rims and cad-plated spokes, which are very nice too, plus other items previously.

The seat is very well upholstered and feels much more comfortable than my re-made original, alhough I've not ridden far with it on the bike (*see below). The whole thing is much lighter than the OE, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, and seems to support my 95kg (200lb) big ol' arse without groaning -- I'm heavy-boned; no, really, I am!

The only drawback, for me, is that I had completely forgotten that, *although my CB is registered as a '64, it was actually restored, prior to my ownership, using a '61 frame; this means that I have to carry out a small fabrication in order to fit my new seat properly. Not a huge problem; it just requires a bit of cutting, filing & threading of some stainless.
