You're welcome, GG. Glad it worked for you!

I use zinc sheet for my anodes and when I have to plate inside a hole I cut a narrow strip of zinc and roll it into a really tight but long spiral that Ican fit into the hole without it shorting out. It's a bit tricky to position but it does get the job done.

how much water do you add to the solution? it looks like wilf has a 5 gallon bucket almost full but the recipe called for no water.

electroplating

I took 1 qt. of vinegar 1/4 lb. Epson salts,1/4 lb. sugar. Shook it up until everything dissolved
No water... it all seemed to do what it was suppose to do.

ok, so this is what i ended up doing,

i doubled the batch of ingredients suggested by Wilf, and added about a gallon of water. I used five zinc strips, and my power source was a 6v 350Milliamp wall charger. i let the bolt sit in the plater for about 15 minutes, then took it out and wire wheeled the grey gunk off, then i plated it again or about 20 minutes. It worked pretty well! now i need to figure out how to do a big batch of a lot of bolts.
