CA77 spokes

Post by joeweir1 » Sun Mar 30, 2008 1:31 pm

Any spoke experts here?I was given a new set of spokes for my CA77 and they are supposed to be for the bike. They are slightly different in that the bent section on the outers is slightly shorter on the new ones and the inners are slightly longer. The difference may be 1/32 to a 1/16.Will this cause a problem?Joe

Joe, You'll have to try the new spokes in your hub. Look to see how the bend fits in relation to the hub. If the shorter ones get in a bind when attempting to align the threaded end with the rim, Not sure I would use them as it may put undo stress on the bend which already has induced stress from the forming operation.]
Watch to see if the "Mushroom" head of the bent end seats into the countersunk hole in the hub when the nipple is attached to the threaded end. (In the rim)

Not sure that helps but just my observation.
