Hi Gordon

Not sure of the bike's complete history but I bought it from Roger Bryant who has owned it for a number of years. At least since '94. I have an older picture of it where it has a CR style brake at the front.

There's a bit of work to do on the 500 motor but the basic crank / barrels part is all done. It has a single OHC head with some biggish ports. I have a choice of duplex chain or gear (with an idler) primary. All very interesting.

I think my DOHC project will start as a 350 although I have a CB450 head in the workshop. Its a heavy old lump compared with the Suzuki GS400 head which I also have.

Work and travel keeps getting in the way at the moment. Just had my first day in the workshop for a couple of months.

Racers etc.

Hello

Well G-man, its good to see that people have more projects than me. This can be used to "justify" getting more!
Are you planning some track outings on the racer ? if it is one of Johns old ones you wont be disappointed. I see from the picture of the carbs it looks like the bellmouths have been shortened (a tricky job on rare parts).
The bored / stroked engine sounds interesting, I currently have a CB350 racer that is 500cc and it uses some 500T crank parts.
Please keep us informed of the progress.

Gordon

Hi Gordon

Yes I am looking to take the bike out for a couple of outings next year. I am just recovering from minor knee operation to fix a long standing problem. The racer is my 'prize' for getting myself fit again.... :-)

For some time I have been collecting parts to build a similar bike to the one I just bought but that one is going to take me a year or so to put together. I have the GT750 brake, another set of Kehins, Peter Keyte alloy tank and some good engine parts to build something decent. It may have a DOHC top end if I can get that sorted.

Yes, when I get on top of the various parts and options, I'll post some pics. Just need to make some time to make a little progress now.

A few more pics of the race bike. Shall get it fired up soon when my knee is a little better.

Notice the CA / CL cam cover on this side as ignition is on the crank.

Gordon was right - the carb trumpets have been shortened.

Fours on the 305 site!

Hello

Jerry, just to say thanks for posting the pictures I had seen pictures of the "77" before but the new four is something else. Is the engine based on the CBX (400/550), there have been a couple of bikes showing up in the UK using them. I like the CR's they just look right unlike the later ones. What class can you race it in and are you planning to let Levi Day loose on it ?
It is a shame you need the silencer cans though.
I hope you have fun with it.

Jerry

Many thanks of posting and letting us share those beautiful creations. I look at those pictures several times a week for inspiration.
