testing rectifier

Post by forrestlanding » Wed Aug 23, 2006 1:33 am

Suddenly, bike is shooting the fuse as soon as the switch is turned on. Would the rectifier being going sour cause this and if so, could someone help explain a test that can be done on the rectifier to prove it to be defective. Also, I understand that an inexpensive rectifier can be bought at the local Radio Shack that can do serve the same purpose. Anyone know the Radio Shack part number? Thanks for any help !!!

The best fix is at http://www.olypen.com/retro/ . Looks just like the original, no need for schematics, all the wires are the same! And it uses modern diodes, so no more failures!
