Chance to buy

Post by walnut » Thu Aug 28, 2008 7:46 pm

I have found a 1966 305 dream that is completely disassembled. The owner has painted the frame, tank, fenders ect. Paint is excellent.
Owner has new in box:Mufflers, cables, badges, rims and spokes, tires Ect. The list goes on and on.
Also has one complete and one semi complete parts bikes. Also extra frame.
He wants a $1,000.00 for everything. Does this sound like a good deal? Have never rebuilt a bike that was completely disassembled, but I am sure I could put back together using the parts bikes as a reference.
I have always loved these bikes and would like to assemble this so I can ride and have a good time with.
This is my first post and would like some feed back from someone that has assembled a basket case to make sure im not getting in over my head.

if the engine is one piece I would buy the lot... (with what you can spend on parts for one of these old dogs it can add up fast...)

either engine kicks over with compression and it IS complete. I'd say yes. after i disassembled mine (with no previous motorcycle knowledge at all, i put it back together in 2 or 3 days.

Sounds like a deal to me. If the mufflers are correct ones they would be worth almost the whole price.

Thanks for the advise. I called him tonight and the deal will be made on Tuesday when he gets back from the labor day weekend.
I'm sure I will be asking a lot off questions.

I'm a proud owner of a very red Honda Dream that is in about 5 boxes. I have to take the trailer with me this weekend to get the other bikes and misc parts.
This is going to fun.
