I used that with some steel wool. Just gonna try a wire brush now.

they did the stamping by hand and sometimes it can be a little light (and sloppy). get the paint off and you will see it.

Have a look at this post to find the serial number. Look at the bottom of the spring on the brake light. Mine is just behind that. They are hard to find. See this older post where I added photos.

certainly the stampings on the headstocks were machine done, but I have seen some early dreams with numbers crooked, spacing off, and only lightly pressed. talking with other dream guys, we conclude that some of the dreams must have been hand stamped. but , no. I am not sure.

Back in the dark ages, if a CA sustained frame/rear fender damage, it was easier for the dealer to replace the frame, rather than repair the damage. The replacement frames from Honda did not have a serial number stamped on them, the dealer did that while scrapping out the unhappy piece. Factory stamping should be nice, the dealer's, not very.
