Well, with the help of this form, which has been a great resource, I got my 1966 Dream 305 $300 craigslist find with 3500 miles up and running. It came mostly whole but with no carb or battery. After getting an Amal 626, filing the points, and hooking up a lawn mower battery it fired up on the second try!
I kind of like the ratty look so I'm going to hold off on any paint work but I have wrapped the exhaust and threw some slash cut mufflers on it.
The only major-ish problem is the points shaft is pitted so it doesn't get a good seal and weeps oil. Already got a new shaft but does replacing that require removal of the cam or is the c-clip accessible without breaking the cam chain and pulling out the cam?
Also, I don't suppose anyone has a battery cover laying around?
