Mystery Solved

Post by randioury » Sun Feb 07, 2016 8:57 pm

Ok, so finally received a seal kit and took off the clutch cover to investigate this shaft more thoroughly. Got the cover off and Voila! the mystery of the odd spline size is solved. Apparently the shaft broke off at the seal (very common) and instead of getting a replacement shaft and opening up the gear box the previous morons welded a shaft end on to the remaining shaft without ever taking the shaft out. Welding is visible. How about that? That explains why no Honda shift levers would go on it. So now I need to figure out what the frikkin spline is that was welded on and try to find a shift lever to match it - or remove the shaft. If it's anything like the C105 I did last winter I am extremely hesitant to do that job. What a nightmare.
