Looking for VIN info

Post by sidehack » Wed Dec 17, 2008 8:10 pm

Howdy all, I'm new to the forum and am looking for some guidance on VINs. I recently acquired 2 CA77s. One is a '65 with title, the other I believe is a '66 (no title). The VIN on the second is CA77E1014929. Any ideas where to find the year and maybe even a title? I'm in Illinois and our title processes have become much tougher in the last few years.

Thanks,
Sidehack

The number you gave is an engine number. Check the following thread for the location of the VIN.

Welcome sidehack, My best guess is with the engine and frame numbers being 1892 digits apart they are probably to far apart to be a "match bike" and both were made in 65. The bike could have been sold in 66 and titled as a 66. Someone may ring in with the exacts for you. G

ps, My guess is based on information learned from many hours of reading on this forum, I recommend any new member spend time reading, most basic questions have been answered.

The NO1 thing I have learned from this forum is you really do "meet the nicest people on a Honda."

Thanks for the info! I've read some of the forum, but haven't had the time to read all I need to yet. I'm much more versed in American bikes and haven't done a lot of Honda work for many years. My first was a 1963 Honda 50 step through. The Dreams came in a package deal and I'm enjoying the trip down memory lane.
