Hi,
I have a 1967 cl77 with frame number cl77 1041031 and engine number cl77e 1040990. I need to replace the fork boots and would like to get the correct ones. It appears that part number 51611-273-010 is the proper boot for frames 1014496 to 1043096. These are not available in reproduction evidently. If I find one, how will I know it is the right one. How does this boot differ from the earlier and later ones? How important is it to use this boot rather than the earlier (51611-273-000) or later (51611-273-020) version which is available in reproduction?
I have found a supposedly NOS 51611-273-010 but the seller is very uninformed or unknowledgeable about his product and doesn't allow returns. He is sure that the parts number is correct and has the original plastic bag which shows the number. The pictures, however, are inconclusive as to showing the interior ridge or ridges at one end or each end that slip into the grove on the fork on the bottom end and possibly into the fork ear on the top end?
My bike has clamps on the top but none on the bottom. Is this correct?
Thanks, ccscrambler
Honda cl77 fork boots
Re: Honda cl77 fork bootsYour bike did come with the 010 boots and when issued had clamps on both ends.
The later issue 020 will work and without clamps on your bike. .......lm
