Hello,
I just purchased a 1966 CL77 3 weeks ago. I have taken it apart and started the restoration process. I've been to two swap meets [Wauseon OH and Mid Ohio] and have started accumulating parts that I need.
The fuel system has been my first job. The tank is going to a body shop soon for paint. What color would be suggested to match the original silver paint? The fenders will match. I don't believe they were chrome, but I haven't stripped the black paint off yet to know for certain. The front fender, unfortunately, was "bobbed"[as well as the fender bracket]. It will have to be replaced.

I owned a '66 Superhawk I bought in '67. My first motorcycle. I have always liked the stying of these bikes. I got the bug to buy a 305 from seeing a new friend's '66 Superhawk and Dream. He let me ride his Superhawk, and it brought back fond memories of mine. I bought the Scrambler a week later.

Over the years , I have owned a 450, a 350 Four, a CBX, and a CX500TC, among other makes.

Congrats on your new bike...if you search you will find some guys here who are in the process of making front fenders and brackets for the scramblers so that problem may take care of itself..check the vendor listing as there are several vendors with NOS quality replacement parts. I think the chrome fenders were only on the last years production CL77's and I don't recall black fender son any of the scramblers but the forum has some guys that know EVERYTHING about the 250/305's so they will weigh in for sure. You can also get an electronic ignition that replaces the points, about 300 bucks but well worth it. Tires are easy as the made in japan Dunlop K70's are the right size and look close to the original tires. Welcome and when you have spare time just read all the threads in the scrambler section..you will learn so much but also check out the fuel/carb section..actuallu just read all the threads on all the sections!!! Morning: I am just finishing up rebuilding my "66" Scrambler. By trade I was not a bike mechanic and have made almost all the mistakes rebuilding it. It is quite a learning process. Don't know if I could help but will be watching your progress.....Mine fired for the first time in 44 years yesterday. It had a bunch of problems but what a sweet sound.

Hey - it worked!
The PO[s] painted the tank and fenders. The tank is just about ready for the POR15 treatment. Still need to find out what silver paint/codes would replicate the original.

Ed Moore says Dupont Imron N8075U Mazda Fleet Silver is the shiznit. Bill Silver says Mazda Sunbeam Silver is a good choice. Somewhere I got codes of Dupont Imron 45040U and PPG 33283. I think out of Bill Silver's resto guide. Probably splitting hairs among those colors.

Black is Dupont Imron 99U or PPG120.

Thankyou for the paint suggestion. I will check locally to see who carries DuPont or PPG.

I do like a clean garage, especially after not having one for 14 yrs.
