Help!!!!!

Post by dcleveland63 » Sat Jun 11, 2011 8:20 pm

I just bought a 1966 Honda CL77 and don't know anything about the controls, switches, etc. There was no owners manual and I would love to be able to get ahold of any manuals on basics, parts, service, specifications, etc. I have motorcycles and have had older model Hondas many years ago, but I don't know if there is an emergency kill switch on the handlebars, etc. There is a switch above the left handlebar grip and a button. I assume that the switch is a high/low beam and the button is the horn, however, I see a black lever switch on the top of the headlight and don't know what that is? The bike belonged to an engineer/motorcycle mechanic and has been taken great care of. He properly drained all fluids etc. about 3 years ago and stored in enclosed/covered area. I would like to replenish fluids and check out, etc. and try to start, but I don't know if there is any kill switch other than the ignition key itself. I do know that I need to replace the battery since it "fires the ignition" unlike the older smaller model Hondas which can be started even if the battery is dead. Any help with my questions, where I can go to get great reference material/information on this model, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Welcome to the forum. The switch on the headlamp switches the lights on-off and the left handlebar switch operates hi-lo. The button is the horn.

There is no kill switch on these bikes, other than the ignition switch.

Manuals are still available (sometimes as PDF on CD) but they can be expensive. I have a CL77 parts manual as a very large PDF which you can have if you send me a PM with your email address.
