cl77 rear shock recommendations, handlebars, tail light

Post by maxdog » Fri Apr 17, 2015 11:51 am

Hello all,

Relatively new to these bikes. Have a 1967 model with rusty shocks. What are your recommendations for replacements that would replicate, or at least come close to, the originals?

Would like to obtain a replacement handlebar as well. Are there decent new versions?

Have a rear tail light assembly that is rusted. It is the one with the rounded lense, not square corners. If anyone has one that is clean, would be interested.

Thanks!

Regarding rusty shocks...............if the rust is limited to the painted and or chrome covers.......they can be refinished. If the rust is on the bodies and deeply pitted, it would be easier to replace them with other or new units. The CB/CL350 series shocks will fit with retained rubber bushings on the upper mounts..............and at relatively low cost. New IKON shocks can be sourced on ebay.

Do you have the original bars? If not dented or badly bent, they could be re-chromed. The OEM bars are not drilled for wires. I have a spare set of rechromed bars with exposed copper that gets covered by the grips and perches. Asking $100 plus shipping. A few other choices are available but not the same as OEM.

I have a decent oval tail light.........$20 plus shipping from Wisconsin.
