1966 cl77 all chrome model

Post by notrun » Thu Mar 13, 2014 7:21 pm

I recently picked up a cl77 basket case that has chrome side covers, fork ears, rear swing arms and foot pegs. I believe it is an all chome model. I understand Honda produced this all chrome model as a limited edition. Does anyone have any information on this model? How rare is this model?
I appreciate any help. Thanks

HONDA NEVER issued a CHROME CL77 bike.
In the time the bike was popular and WE bought THEM we added chrome parts and different seat covers and even changed the color. Everyone wants to have THAT SPECIAL ISSUE!. .............lm

It is interesting that the fenders and headlight shell is also chrome. The chrome side covers have what appears to be an old original dealer sticker on it Outdoor Equipment Company Overburg Tenn. A Honda and Mecury Outboard dealer.
Were all these parts avaiable from Honda back in the day?

I read somewhere that there were some models that had the extra chrome treatment similar to the Chrome Z 50

Thanks ,

It may have been the dealer that had it chromed. Possibly to up-sell it or to primp up a previous years model that was still sitting around.
