Pistons for a CL72

Post by malcolmgb » Fri Feb 21, 2014 3:23 pm

I have checked the on-line parts fiche and see a number of pistons for the CL72, am I right in thinking any of these can be used in my 1964 CL72 provided they are the correct bore size and rings and a matched pair.

Provided they match your bores' sizes. Although Ed or another seasoned voice of experience should chime in here re: any compression ratio changes along the way.

If pistons & rings are Std, 1-over Std, 2-over, 3-Over or 4-over (0.0mm, 0.25mm, 0.5, 0.75 or 1.0 respectively) and the cylinders are bored & honed to match, then the ring sets need to be correctly "gapped" also, before fitting them to the pistons.
