Front Fender Brace

Post by Rickytic » Thu Jan 10, 2013 3:33 pm

When I bought my bike, the front fender brace was missing the piece that goes on the outside across the back of the front fender, in between the two bolts that lash the brace to the fender.

All the parts schematics and other CL77's I have seen, show the brace going all the way around the back of the front fender and is flattened down. Was looking on EBAY at a CL77 for sale and one of the pictures of the bike shows that the same thing was done to it ( The flattened rear part of the front fender brace that goes on the outisde and around the back side of the front fender has been cut out). I have acquired a beat up fender brace and am about to replace the cut out part but before I do: Qestion is; Is there a reason people cut the brace, or is it a design change from the factory.

Maybe aftermarket

I have seen aftermarket front fenders that had no loops going over the fender. Only stays that ended where the stay met the fender. I dont think the aftermarket stay will fit the OEM fender without some modification.

Thanks for the reply. My front fender brace appears to be original with the back strap cut out of it. Just thought there might be a reason the brace had been cut, because I saw another one just like it. It may have cracked over the years and the PO may have just cut it out. I will take a picture in the morning and post it here.
