CL77 chain guard

Post by conbs » Wed Nov 24, 2010 12:01 am

So I just noticed that in my CL77 parts book, only one part number is listed for the chain guard. 40510-273-010Z This seems odd because I know that the '65 version had louvers on the side, but 66 and later did not. How can they be the same part number? If you got one from Honda with that number what part would you actually get.

I also found it a little confusing (not that it takes much for me) that the "273" in the part number is the product code for a CL72. I don't have a parts book for the 250, but I understand the correct chain guard for it is the one with louvers on the side and two vents on top.

Maybe it doesn't make much difference becaue you can tell the differences among them by looking at the part, but it just seemed odd to me. Anybody have an explanation?
