Post by 305CL77Texas » Fri Jun 05, 2009 4:06 pm

restoring a 66 CL77 and need to dis-assemble the rear shocks to chrome and
paint. Not sure on the correct steps. The seals on top look to come out but
they do not pull out with light prying. any experince or advice ?

I put a long bolt through the top eye, hook a tie down hook to each side of bolt, hook tie down to ceiling hook. Then pull down on upper cover, and have an assistant remove the two collars. Release the top cover, and shocks will come apart for re-painting and plating. Hope this makes sense.

Cl77 Schocks

Post by Kirk » Mon Jun 08, 2009 11:43 am

I just did my cb77 shocks with this

Progressive shock spring compressor best $45.00 dollars I have ever spent should work on cl77 shocks.

Everyone chime in would like to make sure this would work for a scrambler.

Thanks,
Kirk

I just mounted mine in a bench vise and pulled down on the cover and removed the collars. Be careful to not pinch your fingers.
