center stand crossbar

Post by hardware man » Thu May 07, 2009 8:12 am

My cl77 project , CL 1048704 , is missing the centerbar for the front footpegs , center and side stands . Do these have folding pegs or stationary? I believe it to be a 67 , it has a chrome rear fender and the large brakes. The color will end up as red/silver as this is my favorite scheme ,but it needs a stand before paint so it will not have to be leaned up beside the barn or whatever. There is a set on ebay at the moment that is solid.Any help here in Knoxville Tn will be appreciated. Thank you

Your bike should have the folding foot pegs. My Scrambler is slightly older than yours and it has the folding pegs. The stationary pegs on Ebay appear to have the correct mounting provisions for a Scrambler but the Honda Parts Catalog only has the folding style shown so I'm a bit confused. Since the part number (273) originated with with the CL72, I'd bet the stationary pegs started with the CL72 and may have progressed through the earlier CL77's, thus making the Parts Catalog incorrect. Perhaps emo can shed some light on this. Oh, by the way, when you paint your bike red, make sure you include the footpegs and bar, and the center stand. Emo picked this up on my red Scrambler which I've since corrected. There should be no black paint on a red Scrambler.

Your 67 should have the folding pegs, with rubber footpegs, as opposed to the earlier steel pegs. I also checked out the non folders on Ebay, and shied away from them.

If ya need the assy I'm sure I can supply it. Your bike was issued with the pegs which used the rubber covers.
The solid assy was/is a domestic part and not for export bikes. ..................lm
